When we dowse for underground water, we’re looking at the amount and quality of the water in the veins. Water carries information homeopathically and we also look at the quality of the information carried by the water.
As water flows underground, through passages and cracks it finds or creates, it produces a magnetic field. These fields rise up vertically and are what a dowser can detect.
The size and quality of a field generated by underground water is determined by the amount of water, how fast or slowly it’s flowing, what the water is carrying (ie what it has dissolved, such as metals or pollution), and whether or not it comes into contact with earth energies such as geopathic stress.
Geopathic stress can be carried in the field of underground water just as other physical contaminates can be. For this reason, it’s important that underground streams be checked and sha (or negative) streams be remedied when doing any geomantic work. Stream crossings are often areas that require attention – whether it’s two streams crossing or a water stream crossing with another type of energy line. Spending time in these geopathically stressed areas can result in a number of debilitating illnesses, including arthritis, degenerative diseases and even cancer (see this article by Richard Creightmore, who teaches our Water Divining workshop).
When dowsing or divining for water, we’re tuning into something outside of ourselves. The rods used in water divining amplify subtle muscle movements that are an intuitive response to the fields generated by water.
Want to learn more about underground water and how to detect it? As well as how to judge water quality, depth and flow?
